Dr Vartika Nanda, Media Personality and Social worker gets first Rajkumar Keswani Memorial Award









The first Rajkumar Keswani Memorial award for exceptional work in the field of Journalism and Social work is bestowed upon Dr Vartika Nada, a well known Social worker and former TV anchor of NDTV.  Dr Nanda has done remarkable work in Jail Reforms through her initiative "Tinka Tinka". 

Late Rajkumar Keswani was a multifaceted person and has written Books, Newspaper Columns and also edited magazines. He was the first person who reported dangers of  Union Carbide. Unfortunately, nobody took him seriously at that time.

He died during second wave of Corona in 2021. His family has instituted an award in his memory which contains a grant of Rs. 1 lac. 


A large number of admirers of Late Keswani attended the event. Film Actor Rajiv Verma, Film Writer Rumi Jafri, Lyricist Irshad Kamil and well known Journalist Rajesh Badal graced the event.

  भोपाल गैस त्रासदी : एक आम आपबीती   भोपाल गैस त्रासदी को आज 37 साल हो गए।   इन 37 सालों में दुनिया पूरी तरह बदल गयी है।   लाखों गैस पीड़ितों को वह रात आज भी याद है जिसने उनकी दुनिया पूरी तरह बदल डाली।   क्या हम सभी ने बीसवीं सदी की भयावह औद्योगिक दुर्घटना को पूरी तरह भुला दिया है ? गैस पीड़ित और उनकी पीड़ा आज किसे याद है ?   मुझे आज भी 37 साल पहले 2 दिसंबर की रात भूले नहीं भूलती।   रात के करीब 2 बजे अचानक हमारे मोहल्ले में शोर शराबा शुरू हो गया था ।   मोहल्ले के खान परिवार के रिश्तेदार जो पुराने   भोपाल में रहते थे , भागकर यहाँ आ गए थे।   उनके अनुसार पुराने भोपाल के काफी लोग गैस की चपेट में आ गए हैं और गंभीर हालत में हैं।   विश्वास ही नहीं हो रहा था। कहाँ की गैस रिसी होगी ? कोई कह रहा था यूनियन कार्बाइड का टैंक फ़ट गया है और गैस फ़ैल गयी है। पिताजी (अब स्वर्गीय ) का ऑफिस पुराने भोपाल में ही था और उन्हें याद आया कि ऐसी ही दुर्घटना कुछ वर्ष पहले हुई थी और उसका काला धुँआ कई किलो मीटर तक दिखाई    दिया था।   उस मामले को फिर रफा दफा कर दिया गया था।   लेकिन पुराने भोपाल के काफी लोगों

  A Rookie Journalist’s Ram Mandir Tale (Photo Coutesy : Jagran Josh) The Grand inauguration of Ram Mandir happened yesterday and my memo ries clouded with some of my encounters 35 years ago. The year was 1989. I was studying for graduation and journalistic bug bit me and I joined a local newspaper. It was BJP the rule in MP and very strict and disciplinarian Sundarlal Patwa was the Chief Minister. The newspapers had right wing leanings and used to sympathize with their issues. I used to work for Sports page and also support regional coverage of the newspaper. One day a young activist correspondent mentioned me about the Ram Janmabhoomi Babri Masjid issue and quizzed me whether I’m aware about it? It was a ‘PSPO’ moment for me.
